“God Speaks” Contemplative Retreat

October 18-20, 2013

“God Speaks” weekend will be a 48 hour retreat in silence and solitude.  The retreat will be facilitated by Don Jordan, Executive Director of Singing Hills.  Designed to help you slow down, leave the ‘noise’ behind, rest, and be able to listen to God speak to you. He wants to.

Contemplative Retreat?

The believer who earnestly seeks God, is often hindered by the noise and pace of the world and the home environment.  Even the personal process of our quest often interferes.  During our “quiet time” we read our chosen text and then list off our petitions, our prayers for forgiveness, maybe a few words of adoration, before racing off into the other 23.5 hours of the day.  Maybe we listen to worship music while we drive or catch a radio preacher along the way. What most do not do… is listen for what God may have to say.  God speaks, but if we are never quiet and listening, how will we hear?  The “God Speaks” Retreat offers these special opportunities to take the time to truly listen. A typical event looks like this:

Day 1

6-8pm Arrive and get settled

8-9pm Orientation: An explanation of suggested guidelines and a chance to meet your fellow “listeners”

9pm-8am Silent personal time of listening and resting

Day 2

8am Breakfast

9-10am Opportunity for communal worship

10am-4pm Solitude and silence

12 pm Silent lunch

4pm Tea and conversation

5:30pm Dinner

7pm Opportunity for communal worship

8pm-8am Solitude, silence and rest

Day 3

8am Breakfast

9-10am Opportunity for communal worship

10am-12pm Personal reflection

A Peaceful…Prayerful… Place

With its beautiful wooded rural setting on 135 quiet acres in central New Hampshire, Singing Hills is uniquely equipped to host the “God Speaks” Retreat.  Walking along the secluded trails, sitting next to the pond, or on a convenient boulder, you will be able to tune out the noise of your busy life and allow  God to minister to your soul.  Resting in your private room is another opportunity for focused ‘listening’ to what God may be speaking to you.  Focused listening is the objective of this restorative weekend. Facilitating your weekend, is Don Jordan who will provide suggested guidelines and opportunities for optional communal worship times throughout the weekend.

All participants will have private bedrooms.  Couples are welcome, but they will stay in separate rooms.  Participants will be asked to leave all cell phones, laptops, personal music devices, kindles, nooks etc. at home or locked in their vehicle throughout the retreat. We encourage participants to involve their families and workplace in the concept of the retreat so that they will actively let you rest.  All guests can be reached in case of emergency at our toll free number 24 hours a day.  Our whole staff will be attentive to your retreat purpose, serving you quietly and prayerfully throughout your stay.

Retreat Fees:

$130 per person includes private room, linens, 5 meals and snacks.  

Your non-refundable deposit of $50 is due with your registration. The balance is due on arrival.
